Become a ucm student alumni ambassador

UCM Student Alumni Ambassadors are an elite group of student leaders from across campus who represent a diverse range of educational disciplines. Ambassadors provide a unique student perspective for the UCM Alumni Foundation Board of Directors, as well as serve as hosts at alumni events, donor visits and other advancement opportunities. They also spend time writing thank-you notes to donors, making phone calls and building relationships with alumni. These student leaders will transition to Young Alumni leadership positions in their respective MuleNation chapters upon graduation.

Selection PROCESS

The students will be asked to fill out an application and have an in-person interview. Students will be scored by everyone who assists with the interview process and selected based on feedback received. We are selecting students this semester who will start in spring 2022.

Applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered for membership:

  • Full-time University of Central Missouri student
  • In good standing with the university
  • Maintenance of a 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Attended UCM for at least one semester
  • Have two semesters remaining at the Warrensburg campus prior to graduation*

*If a student alumni ambassador accepts an internship during one of the semesters, membership can still be obtained and kept if the student makes arrangements with the executive director before the first meeting of the semester. Undergraduate and graduate applicants must be able to serve as an ambassador until graduation.

We need students who are willing and able to serve the UCM Alumni Foundation in many capacities. Although many of our events are exclusive and prestigious, many are also routine. Humility is an important characteristic of our applicants. We are looking for those who enjoy giving back. The most important quality is that you have benefited from UCM and love to say thank you to those who give back.

The UCM Alumni Foundation team seeks individuals who possess the following qualities:

Well-Intentioned People
Those with selfless motives, looking to serve the nonprofit UCM Alumni Foundation.

Best Suited for the Purpose
We want those who are going to succeed at what we do, building and furthering relationships with UCM’s top donors while informing them of current campus needs.

While acknowledging the “well-intentioned” priority, we look for leaders on campus who can help raise awareness about the Alumni Foundation and the Student Alumni Ambassadors across the academic community.

The selection process has two stages: application and interview. As an applicant moves through each stage, the voting delegation makes decisions about the applicant’s ability to serve the UCM Alumni Foundation as a Student Alumni Ambassador.

BEING A Student Alumni Ambassador

Members in good standing with the group will retain their ambassador status until graduation. Following graduation, Student Alumni Ambassadors will transition into MuleNation Young Alumni leadership positions in their respective chapters.

Student alumni ambassador DUTIES

Student Alumni Ambassadors attend special events for the Alumni Foundation and the university, write thank-you letters and make phone calls. As ambassadors, students perform any task needed at the UCM Alumni Foundation, including:

  • Attending a mandatory etiquette training once every semester.
  • Volunteering a minimum of 10 hours per semester.
  • Respectfully representing the Student Alumni Ambassadors and the UCM Alumni Foundation in all areas of involvement on campus.

These dates include functions that all members must attend unless granted an excused absence by the executive director or Student Alumni Ambassadors adviser.
