Homecoming Tradition

Homecoming is our largest alumni tradition of the year! Whether you knew it as Central Missouri State College, Central Missouri State University or University of Central Missouri, the Warrensburg campus is a place you can always call home.

Mule RidersEvery year during Homecoming we recognize a few Distinguished Alumni at an awards dinner in the Elliott Student Union. Our 2020 honorees will be recognized at Homecoming 2021, along with this year's award winners. Reserve your spot at the Distinguished Alumni dinner, taking place in the Elliott Student Union at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22. Learn more and register at ucmfoundation.org/awards.

Another UCM tradition is the annual 50-Year Reunion. If you are part of the Class of 1971, your reunion is happening Friday, Oct. 22, during Homecoming 2021. Visit ucmfoundation.org/50-year-reunion for details and to register.

If you have questions or require special accommodations, please contact the UCM Alumni Foundation at 660-543-8000 or events@ucmo.edu.

Homecoming History

homecoming cheerleaders

Central Missouri’s first annual Homecoming was a silver jubilee held Nov. 5, 1935, in honor of Eldo Hendricks. It featured a convocation during which 21 alumni reminisced about Hendricks’ 25 years of service, plus a halftime presentation where the president and his wife received 25 silver dollars.

The Homecoming parade is truly one of the most popular traditions. It’s always a colorful feast for the eyes, bringing the campus and local communities together to enjoy the Marching Mules, floats, equestrian units, dignitaries, area organizations, businesses, regional high school bands and UCM's very own mule mascot.
